Here’s to the reason behind Easter. Not bunnies & eggs, but He who made them; who died & lives again. Not just the cross, but the crossroads.

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we think deeply on what happened after the cross. We know that our Savior suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane and again on the cross even unto death to pay the price for sin, not His, but ours. Then three days later broke the bands of sin and death as he turned the keys of resurrection for all of us to overcome both death, and sin.

Easter is mentioned in the Bible, but refers to the Passover. Read Acts 12:3-4

“And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)”

“And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.”

Easter comes from the word Pascha, which comes from the Hebrew for Passover.

May we remember what happened before the cross as well as the cross.

And may we remember that he came forth three days after the cross, and by doing so, makes it possible for us all to live again, as he lives again.
